Teruko Mitamura is a Research Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Language Technologies Institute (LTI). She currently serves as the director of the Master of Science in Intelligent Information Systems (MIIS) program. Her research spans natural language processing, machine translation, and question answering systems, with a particular focus on developing multilingual and multimodal AI systems. Dr. Mitamura has led numerous high-impact projects, including the DARPA-funded KAIROS/CHRONOS initiative, which enables schema-based reasoning for complex real-world events, and the AIST Bridge Project, focused on integrating textual, visual, and structured information for advanced AI systems.
